Segmented Lidded Box 8 of 10
In late 2019 I began by collecting off-cuts and scraps from previous projects so that I could make good use of them. Like many projects, these were worked on, put away, forgotten, remembered, worked on again… rinse and repeat, until I finally had some items which I considered finished.
Small projects like this allow me to use lumber that might otherwise be discarded or burned. The random patchwork of various hardwoods give each piece a truly unique appearance, and allows one to enjoy the the varying characteristics of different species of wood all in the palm of your hand.
In each piece, you’ll find an assortment of woods which have come across my workbench at one time or another, and have contributed to innumerable past projects.
Perfect as a keepsake box for small treasures, or as a conversation piece on your desk. Each box in this series is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Body: Alder, Brazilian Cherry, Walnut, Sycamore, Oak
Lid: Figured Maple

Finish: Friction Polish applied on the lathe, buffed with white diamond compound
